Process Change: New Phone Number for Outpatient Ambulatory Sites Referring Patients to University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Emergency Department
Beginning April 1, 2026, there will be a new phone number to call to notify the UM Health-Sparrow Emergency Department in Lansing of a pending patient arrival from outpatient ambulatory sites of care such as provider offices, urgent care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation facilities, group homes, mental health care facilities or home settings.
Instead of calling UM Health-Sparrow One Call, please call ED Dispatch at 517-253-3211. When calling, please be prepared to provide the patient’s demographic information and a brief clinical summary.
If a nurse-to-nurse or provider-to-provider handoff conversation is desired, that can be facilitated by our Emergency Department team members.
